I’m near done with the final draft of Solar Storm. Maybe a week or two more, then I’ll turn it over to a few volunteers for proofing and suggestions.
It turns out that editing is harder for me than the writing, at least so far. I managed to cut almost 8,000 words that did little or nothing to move the story forward, or shine a light on the characters. I like to explain things and that seems to be a dangerous behavior for a writer. It leads to an excessive amount of exposition and while it might be interesting to me and a few others, is unlikely to be more than an annoyance to most. I’ve probably left too much of that in as it stands now.
